Responsibilities
The duties of the role will include economic forecasting and analysis of countries and regions; preparing written analysis for the company's publications and our live commentary website. The successful candidate will be required to work with senior staff on larger research and consulting projects and respond to client and media requests. The scope of the position is to focus regionally on Europe and EMEA.
-Economic forecasting and analysis of countries in Europe and EMEA.
-Writing analysis pieces for the company’s publications and our live commentary website: The Dismal Scientist (www.dismal.com).
-Provide regular data updates and analysis on fundamental economic and market developments.
-Produce analysis on a regular basis to support the research team, including reactive research requested from departments and clients.
-Design and delivery of presentations to Moody’s clients and also at industry conferences.
-Handle enquiries from the external parties, including the media, subscribers and financial market participants/analysts.
-Meeting with clients to discuss proposed and current projects.
-Participate in training of associate and assistant economists.
Person Specification
-Excellent academic background – Ph.D or Master’s degree in Economics, (or related discipline ) is essential.
-Experience in macroeconomic analysis, technical writing, and economic modelling, including knowledge/experience with econometric software, EViews, Stata, SAS or other.
-Well developed IT skills including Email, Word, intermediate Excel and PowerPoint.
-Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, including very good presentation skills.
-Fluency in English and local language is essential and other European languages would be an advantage.
-Excellent organisational skills and able to manage multiple tasks.
-Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and develop relationships with senior management.
-Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision, yet integrate appropriately with the team and other areas within Moody’s.
-Must be client focused and results oriented, ability to set clear goals and objectives for self, focusing on the delivery of targets, quality and deadlines.
-Highly organised and efficient and able to work to tight deadlines.
-Excellent attention to detail.
